Century operates two sites in remote north west Queensland: its mining and processing operations at Lawn Hill, and associated dewatering and shipping facilities at Karumba, on the Gulf of Carpentaria. The Lawn Hill site  is a fly-in, fly-out operation while the Karumba facility has a combined fly-in,fly-out and residential workforce

Commercial production began at Century in 1999 with mine life to approximately 2015.

Century is owned by MMG, a member of the Minmetals Resources Limited (MMR) group of companies. Listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange, MMR is a global resources company that mines, explores and develops base metals projects in Australia and around the world. MMR is one of the world's largest producers of zinc and a substantial producer of copper, lead, gold and silver.
