Note :The very high estimated Gross Value Added per capita for Burke Shire is due to the presence of the Century Mine and substantial numbers of mine workers. Mining records a very high Gross Value Added per worker.

Source :North Australia Research Group – Regional Input/Output Multipliers – Modified National Data Model.

At a national level, GRP per capita is about $60,000. We thus have in the Gulf, higher than average per capita GRP overall and in the dominantly pastoral shires of Etheridge and Croydon that include some mining, very high levels in Burke Shire due to a mining workforce and very low GRP in the Aboriginal communities, Carpentaria below national average, but probably a mix in between Etheridge and Croydon levels reduced by a relatively high Aboriginal population.
