| Boodjamulla National Park (formerly Lawn Hill) |
|
Boodjamulla National Park was officially opened in late 1985 to protect this spectacular gorge system with its sheer 60 metre sandstone walls, crystal clear green water which flows in abundance all year round. It is fringed with lush tropical vegetation consisting of Livistonia palms, Leichhardt trees, paperbarks, figs, pandanus, and white cedar trees - remnants of the ancient rainforest that covered the Gulf Savannah millions of years ago.
The Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service has built 20km of marked pathways providing access to the more spectacular viewing areas around the gorge area. FACILITIES Camping only. Specific sites have been set aside for buses or large groups. The internal roads are set out for easy caravan access and exit. There are laundry tubs, showers, toilet facilities, BBQs and tables.
